The Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has defended his outburst against the refereeing of their Premier League game at Newcastle, saying said it is his 'duty to defend his club'.

Following Arsenal's defeat at St James' Park, Arteta called Anthony Gordon's match-winner 'an absolute disgrace' after it was checked for three separate VAR incidents before being awarded. Arsenal issued a statement saying they 'wholeheartedly support' Arteta's post-match comments after 'yet more unacceptable refereeing and VAR errors'. Arteta has now doubled down on his comments saying, 'It is my duty to stand in front of you, to stand in front of the cameras and give a very clear and honest assessment of what happens on the game. And this is what I did.'

Earlier he said about the Liverpool vs Spurs Game he said Referees make mistakes and now he is complaining. I understand why because the referees have been terrible.

I'm more annoyed about no red cards than the goal. Too many cooks...?
